31 august 2008: Matkalehti l : Opodo, a large European travel agency has arrived to the Finnish market

Travel agency Opodo has started in Finland, Matkalehti reports. Opodo is one of the biggest online travel agencies in Europe.

In the finnish market Opodo is represented by Travellink. Opodo trips can be booked on either Travellink site or on Vertaa.fi- price comparison.

In 2007 Opodo sold trips worth of over 1,3 billion euros. Opodo was founded in 2001 and is active in Germany, UK, France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Norway and Denmark.

Founders were some of the large airlines: Aer Lingus, Air France, Alitalia, Air France, Austrian Airlines, British Airways, Finnair, Iberia, KLM and Lufthansa. In 2004 spanish technology provider Amadeus became the head owner of Opodo.
