Technical Product Manager

The Position
The Technical Product Manager is responsible for the product development and management of the products, categories and services that have been assigned to him/her. Developing and managing products, categories and services is done from a central position supporting all Compare Group websites and countries. The product portfolio holds products, categories and services for both partners and visitors of the Compare Group websites.

The Technical Product Manager is responsible for designing technical solutions and processes for the products, categories and services assigned to him. He/she gathers and prioritizes product and user requirements and translates them into a technical product vision and roadmap. The Technical product Manager works closely with Commercial Product Management to coordinate product development and ensures embedding of the service and its processes within the company across all departments.

In order to implement products, categories and services he/she works closely with the IT department, providing our developers a clear view on requirements and specifications as well as a process design.

The Technical Product Manager is responsible for the technical behavior of the products, categories and services that he/she manages. He/she monitors the processes, performance and scalability and manages the products, categories and services accordingly.

To maintain product and market knowledge the Technical Product Manager keeps up with the technology and trends relevant for Compare Group activities. The Technical Product manager reports directly to the Marketing Manager.

Your home base is the head office in Utrecht, the Netherlands (next-door to the Central Station).

Responsibilities and Tasks
• Define product strategy and roadmap in cooperation with Commercial Product Management derived from company strategy.
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications; data models and processes
• Design and maintain product and services supporting processes
• Select and acquire product data from external suppliers
• Improve existing products, categories and services to optimize performance, scalability and processes
• Ensure development and embedding of the processes within the organization in close cooperation with Commercial Product Management and IT
• Create and maintain Technical product definition
• Create and maintain process descriptions
• Prioritize planned work for the IT department based on business value

Education/ Experience
• A Bachelor or University degree, Economics, Communication, Information Management, (Business) Informatics, Communication systems
• Minimal 5 years working experience in a Commercial organization of which 3 years in internet
• Experience in product management of non-tangible products (services), preferably in a internet, hard- or software distribution company
• Experience with project management
• Fluent in English. Skilled in other European languages is very much appreciated.

Technical Requirements
• Extensive experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.)
• Experience with workflow management software
• Affinity with data (data models and processes)
